Good day,

Thanks for helping me.

I received an old frame, and I would like to put in my own photo of an old steam engine. The photo should be 103cm x 145cm.
I've been thinking about downloading a photo and then sizing it in photoshop to have it printed.

I don't know a lot about that. So my question is:

What size download do I need to fill that size in high quality?

In the TIFF formats, are these large enough?

I will appreciate any help.

Regards,
Erich

Way to answer the question...

When converted to inches your frame is roughly 40 in by 45 in. You would need a photograph that is 12000x13500 pixels to print at full, 300ppi resolution.
However... those will print at roughly 74ppi. 72ppi is poster quality. So you won't get a high quality photographic print, you will get a decent poster grade print.
Resizing is possible, but you will need to use a program like Perfect Resize 7 by OnOne software.
When you UP size or enlarge the computer is randomly generating pixels that do not exist. Resize is supposed to use an intelligent way of enlarging that makes those pixels make more photographic sense. If you just add a bunch of random pixels you will not increase the quality in any way, in fact you may see it get fuzzier in appearance.
