Three shots from my first attempt using my latest lens - Laowa 90mm f2.8 CA-Dreamer Macro 2x in Dad`s back garden this afternoon, apologies there were not more interesting subjects!

Bit tricky to operate, manual focus and manual aperture, quite sudden focusing but think I`ll get used to it.

You got a new toy, bees and flys arnt boring subjects Mr🤪. Nice sharp detail on your sony wobe, very expensive camera hey?

All three pics have huge amounts of detail but suffer from a bit of over the top lighting.
Specular highlights are very difficult to control in Macro. Minimum of 2 layers of diffusion helps.
Pics of bugs are a current obsession of mine and i would be proud of all three of those pics.

Well Done

Thanks Digger!, spend on some things and save on others!

Many thanks, appreciate the feedback hugely. These were shot on a very bright afternoon in full sun, I’ll look into the diffuser option and give this a go - thanks again 👍

Well done pics in full sunlight.

So it's manual aperture. Does that mean you select (say) f/11 beforehand and then go looking for the bug? Does the viewfinder compensate for the darkening due to the f/11?

Is it easy to find the subject? It is very hard with my Canon MPE-65 lens.

Also, at higher magnifications, I'm thinking you will be very close to the subjects. Doesn't that scare them away?

You can change aperture and it will reflect the light change in the viewfinder (darker/lighter).

At first I found it quite hard but now after practise it is getting much easier.

Re getting close - yes, though I could get close enough to these fellas without them taking off.
