New to DSLR photography in Texas

My name is Brian and I am an Architect in South Texas. I have always had an interest in photography, and other creative arts, but have never had the "gear" to really allow myself to study and get good as an amateur photographer. Well, last week I took the first step by picking up a Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSI, with a 18-55mm IS, and a 55-250mm IS lens. I am really excited about learning all about photography, and to finally create photos that make you stop and say "wow".

Just thought I'd step in and mention that it's not only the camera that makes the photos. So learn all you can, read as many books as you can, and shoot, shoot, shoot instead of leaving it only on the little green box!
