New to photography, new to the site...

Hello. I'm a long time aficionado of photography who has never ventured beyond shooting candid pictures with an automatic camera. I have always wondered if I could transition the "pictures" I see in my head into a photographic medium, so I finally took the plunge and purchased a DSLR camera (Olympus E620) to give it a try. I plan to start a basic class at a local college in September, but I'm also hoping to learn on the forums. I am a true beginner, so please bear with me and be patient with my simple-minded questions. I am eager to learn and willing to listen.
