Hi everyone!

I'm a filmmaker coming from video cameras, to the HD SLR world! I have to say, I'm sorry I did not use SLR before! The lenses, the depth of field, the light sensitivity! So amazing!

I shot a wedding with it two weekends ago and just shot a short. It's amazing what kind of quality you can get in low light!

My short is online here, shot only with practicals, I'm so happy with the outcome and could never have shot it with a video camera this way.

(It's a comedy)

Lol funny video you got there. Can't wait to see what your work is going to look like in the future.

What program are you using?

Thanks Methane!

It was composited / edited / color corrected with Sony Vegas. And our all so sophisticated special effects were done in After Effects CS4.

We used the 18-135 kit lens and stayed wide open as the aperture tends to close as you zoom in. :P

I have the 50mm 1.8 lens, which is very fast, but it's 50mm focal length, plus th APS-C crop factor made it impractical for any of the shots.

Can you any anyone recommend a fast lens that isn't so tight?

If you want to go fast outside of the 50mm focal range be prepared to spend some bucks, the 24-105 f4L is a pretty fast lens, as well as the 28mm f2.8 prime.

I just picked up a sigma 24-70. Thing is crazy fast but the zoom is a little tight i don't know if it takes time to break in or not but heres a video: start a 1:10

Very nice. I was always curious about the Sigmas and other aftermarket brands. Do you need to use an adapter or anything?

It's amazing how the 50mm 1.8 Canon lens is $100 and then the next one up is several hundred dollars more! Would you recommend buying off of eBay?

Nope no adapter needed. Simply Plug and play. I'm still playing around with it trying to find its pros and cons, but so far so good. ONly thing i've noticed that i don't like would be zooming out from 35mm to 24mm... thats the only stiff part in the lens.

Yeah I know I absolutely loved mine ! But I was driving home one day (when I didn't own a camera bag) and some lady Slammed her brakes in front of me causing me to slam on mine. And my camera with the 50mm on it fell on the floor causing the cheap plastic to crack in half. :( That's the only time i wish i had the 18-55 kit lens on. =/
