Hey fellow members,

Got out this past weekend to take some pix of Downtown Phoenix, AZ. I was always fond of taking pix, but want to take them more seriously...so upgraded my old skool nikon coolpix for a Nikon D40 this past christmas...anyways, please view and comment/advise on these pix...appreciate it:

- Nikon D40
- 18-55mm lens
- Manual Mode
- Shot in NEF/RAW format, but converted to jpeg for upload

Hello and Welcome to TPF.

Just an FYI for you:

Please size your photos to 800 pixels on the long edge.

Please number your photo for easy reference in responses.

Please limit the numbers of photos for each post.

Please read the stickies in the galleries.

^ hehe..thanks for the suggestion!! should be fixed now....let me know!!

^bump for replies/comments :)

Thanks guys!

welcome to the forum.
Most of these are way overprocessed for my taste but I do like #9 here. It has an interesting composition and works well with the high contrast for me.

Dani.

I'm also not fond of all the editing these pictures have gone through, i think number 4 has got most potential and some nice lines leading the viewers eye into the picture more.

Without the editing i think #4 has some great potential and interest. nice work, but don't edit so much! :)

I agree about the PP being too much on these. Number 4 would have worked for me if the DOF was done in camera instead of post processing. The lines are very "messy" where you selected for blur and it's not a natural type of blur with the sides out of focus and entire length of center in focus.

thanks for the feedback guys...exactly what i was looking for. will definitely work on the editing part...appreciated

I think #4 is fantastic, definately my favorite of the lot.

Im not really in to editing at all... With that being said
#2 is by far my favorite photo. I typically dislike how people use BW and color, but in this case i really like it
