I am wanting to pick up the hobby of amateur photography. What type of digital camera would you suggest? I probably would not blow up the pictures beyond an 8x10. What mega pixel should I not go under in order for these pictures to not turn out grainy? Thanks for your help.

A 3MP digicam should give you good 8x10's. 2 will do it, but its not that sharp. Get yourself a camera that will give you manual control of the exposure.

Welcome to the boards.

Unfortunately I'm a sorta newbie myself and I don't know a thing
about digital cameras.

Enjoy your stay here, I'm sure others will be able to help you out

Even though the board is new to me I'd like to welcome you also.
As far as a good starter camera there are many. I agree Voodoocat about the pixel range for printing.
Canon has a great line of s series cameras and the A70 seems to be the best seller right now.
It might be a good idea to go to http://www.steves-digicams.com/ and read some reviews.
Hope to see some photos soon. :D

WELCOME!!!

as far as mp's. 3-3.14, somewhere in that range is perfect 8x10 quality.
