Newspaper Fees

I have contacted my local newspaper about covering local music festivals. I was prepared to do it for free in return for tickets but suddenly they have asked "Did you want a fee for reproduction of the photos?".

What should I do>? Im not in it for the money but if they could cover my expenses I would be happy enough./ Is it right to ask for that?

What do you normally charge them with regards to a fee?

Wow.... I'm going to ignore the original issue of you wanting to work for free. All I'm going to say is, wish my local papers were like that..

They would steal my images before they'd pay me.
