I just say "I like to take credit for it". What really pisses me off, and my SIL did this the other weekend at Thanksgiving dinner, was say, "You have a really nice camera, how much did it cost?"
I gave a loud choking noise and looked at her like "you've got to be kidding me" in a really exaggerated way, but she just stood there staring at me, waiting for an answer and said, "No seriously, how much did it cost?"
I said "a lot" and walked away.

I just say "I really don't know what price things are - check out bhphoto.com, they are a really good company to buy from", smile and move away casually.
