I went for a walk around a local lake with just a body, 70-200 2.8IS and a 580II. Looking for a shooting location I found myself pretty succesful when i came accross this little spot. I took a few shots of my unprepared (patient) fiance and I am wondering how would some of you approach this spot? I am getting another 580 soon and will be returning to the site with a reflector to improve the scene. Any constructive comments would help here. Thanks.

btw the landscape is just to show the lay of the land. not meant for c&c

EDIT: All shot with 580II on camera 1/250 @ f/2.8 ISO 100.

The location looks nice. Did you use the flash? What time of day?

1, seedheads are in the way of here face
2, this one looks the best
3, seedheads and she is hunched over
4, not for c&c, but it looks really nice except for the powerlines in the background

Thanks.. yeah the 580 was used on the first 3. All shot RAW and P using Adobe RAW and CS3. I plan to return to this spot soon with some more gear and time to spend shooting. It was 1pm here in NL but heavy overcast and fog. Great natural softbox i had going on. I'm lucky to have this patient lady of mine as a subject. She will be dolled up for the next one. More neutral clothing would help and off camera flash. maybe a reflector. I'm looking forward to improving these. ANy more C&C is appreciated.

What a beautiful location! Good shots just be careful with the long grass/weeds going into your subjects face...the 3rd shot made my nose tickle looking at it ;). I would place my subject on the ledge of the gazebo and fade the background. I would also do something on the steps and path instead of having my subject in the tall grass. Great location find!

Thanks Darci.

I probably should not have posted any other than #2 for c&c. I posted them more to show the backdrop and scenery. Thanks for the suggestions. I will think of them when I reshoot. Cheers
