Night shot under the pier

New 35mm f/1.4 to play with, so I went to the beach at night and took some pics under the pier. Criticism welcome!

I was going for a "peek-a-boo" look. I think I should have stepped back to convey that more effectively.
 
Wow, if every component was sharp that would have been spectacular. Major bummer if that is the only one you got. You also have a couple dead pixels on your sensor as well.

Close. Offshore oil drill rig. There's plenty of them here. I should probably have photoshopped them out!
 
I wouldn't get rid of it, it adds interest in the far distance. When I am at the beach house I love gazing at the lights at sea at night.
 
Interesting view. One way to handle out-of-focus foreground, especially in a fairly low-key shot like this, is to darken it.

Thanks! Although I wanted the foreground to be out of focus, I'll try that and see if it helps the composition.
