Hallo,

I just received my brand new Nikkor AF 35mm f2 D. When I try mounting it on my Nikon D700, however, the autofocus feature does not seem to work at all.

Does anyone know what the problem could be? I've had no similar problems with other lenses on this camera.

Note: When I mount the lens on the camera, I don't hear a final snapping sound (as I'm used to hearing with other lenses) and the lens does seem to require a bit of force to turn all the way into place. Could this somehow be related to my problem?

Thank you for any suggestions!

Something was/is out of whack.

Hopefully you didn't damage the mount flange on the camera or lens by forcing the lens on.

I would bet you didn't have the lens fully seated in the mount when you started turning it. If so, you have likely bent the mounting flanges on both the camera and lens.

I would suggest a trip to a camera store or send both the camera and lens to Nikon or a Nikon authorized service center.
