Nikkor lenses, need professional advice

I'd go for the 50mm 1.4G over the 1.4D if you could, the 85 1.8 is an amazing lens stopped down past f/2.8, the 28mm f/2.8 is OK, go for the 35mm f/1.8 or 24mm f/2.8 instead.

for DX though, look into the tamron 17-50 f/2.8 + 85mm f/1.8D and call it good. That way you have a somewhat fast normal and a fast portrait tele.

Wait.. so are you saying to get the 24mm f/2.8 instead of the 28mm? and still get the 50mm and 85mm? Or should I get the 24mm f/2.8 35mm f/2.8 and 85mm f/1.8?

Alright sweet thanks. I take it that Tamron lens it pretty good then? I haven't ever used one so I don't know off hand.

Which 17-50 f/2.8 are those pictures from? I'm guessing the older non VC model, since you've had it for 3 years..?

Yep non-VC BiM version which has the built in motor for AF on D40,D60 type entry cameras.
