Nikon 105 macro. Better for action than you might think

I was at a dance competition the other day and the only fast tele I had was my 105 macro. I shot about 350 frames at ISO 3200 f/2.8. I'm happy.

My lens has the possibility to focus to infinity, there must be a reason for this...

Love your shot, that is a creative use of available tools.
 
way to think outside the box with a "macro" lens. I have been thinking of getting this lens myself, just another reason to. :) Nice pics, I wouldn't have thought that the lighting was so dim in those dance competitions, I guess the person running them isn't a photographer :lol:
 
I'll be using my 105 macro at my daughter recital in a few weeks. :)
 
Of course! The only differences between a macro lens and any other lens is it's close focusing ability.

I was really impressed with how quick it focused. I set it to limited and it snapped right in with no hunting at all.
