I'm considering replacing my 18-105 on my D7000 with one of these lenses. The 18-105's plastic mount and toyish feel just turns me off. The IQ is however, not bad. I'd like to replace it with either the Nikon 16-85 f/3.5-5.6 DX or the 24-85 f/2.8-4.0 FX. I am aware of the obvious differences between these 2 lenses. The 24-85 is 1 stop faster, the 16-85 has VR and a focusing motor. The 24-85 will focus 1:2 and will work on a FX body too. I don't really need the added wide angle of the 16-85 as I have it covered with my 12-24 Tokina. New and used they are about the same price. Anybody had experience with both of these lenses on a DX body?
