Hi there,

I thought you may be interested by these tests, not sure it shows very big differences but you can appreciate how the D200 sensor reacts to those different lenses:

- 50mm 1.4 nikkor AIS

- 17-70mm 2.8/4.5 Macro Sigma

- 50mm Zeiss Distagon Hassy (used Photodiox Adapter)

I like the warm tones of the 50mm 1.4 and the very subtle details on the cushion with Distagon, as you can see the Sigma looks more contrasted, is it because of the lens treatment for digital?

The sharpness is not really very different, maybe the Zeiss has better details in very subtle contrasts.

cheers

That's disapointing. I expected more from the 50mm Nikkor AIS.

I have a 50mm Nikkor 1.8 AI-S lens, not sure how it fares though. I don't see too much difference between it and my new AF-S 18-70mm F3.5-4.5

The only thing I question here is what F stop did these get shot at. A better test maybe to shoot each lense at all of the f stops. Most lenses have sweet spot within the range. It's also a little hard to determine edge sharpness.
