Nikon D200?

Does anyone have solid info on the rumor of a D200. Supposedly to replace the D100. The concept is great. A step above the D70 and below the D2x. Hopefully coming in at the $2,000 dollar price range. Some thought that Nikon would say something Sept 1. That did not happen, so November may be the announcement. Knowing Nikon that puts it on the shelves in January.

Nikon sponsors "Photography at the Summit" the week of October 6. Hopefully I will be able to get the poop when those guy's arrive. Until then I am dying to know. The brief time I spent researching provided 50/50 results. Half saying that it is in production and half saying it is just a rumor.

I get jazzed about new cameras, but rarely do I buy one. Hopefully this time will be different.

Nobody has any solid info on the D200, apart from those that aren't telling

Rumours have been strong for a while but lately they've reached such fever pitch that it's fairly obvious something is coming. Even well respected names like Thom hogan are starting to buy in to the rumours, and they've recently opened a D200 forum on Nikonians.com.

whilst searching the net for more rumours and info i stumbled across this, which at least tells us for sure that the D200 is not just a rumour:

it's the application of a trademark from nikon for "D200"

Back up? The D200 is last camera you will need. Jokingily of course.

i think a realistic prize would be a lens cloth so the lucky person with the camera takes good care of it. hey, and we can all sign it!
