nikon f5 question

just picked one up the other day... when spinning command dials to change shutter speed or f stop, i can only get dials to function when "L" button is held depressed. what do i need to do to have my command dials work by themselves. are they somehow locked? thanks! don

43 views and no replies... but i figured it out. reset custom settings for both banks. anyone have nikon's photo secretary on a disc that they be willing to get rid of?
