While cleaning up my basement, i found it, better yet i totally forgot about it. Since i have used Canon for years, i dont know whats compatible with it. A 35mm lens would be great but you can also recommend anything you want. Thanks.

Just pick up a used Nikon 35/f1.8G. Compatible and good glass for the money.

thanks a lot, i was also looking into the 50mm but i am not sure if this may be too limiting. Oh yeah, is "Nikkor" the term for their prime lenses like L is at Canon?

In my opinion either the 35 or 50 would be a good general use lens. I believe Nikkor is just what Nikon calls their lenses. Not certain just a supposition.

Most Nikon-made lenses have the Nikkor name on them.

The E-Series manual focus lenses of the 1970s-80s were just labeled "Nikon" and didn't have the "Nikkor" name. At that time these lenses were considered "consumer grade" and so didn't deserve to be in the same category as the pro-oriented Nikkor line because they had a less sturdy construction (but were still very good optically).

Ironically the E Series lenses were sturdier than many of today's lower cost Nikon AF lenses labeled as Nikkors.
