I'm really wanting to get a new flash so I can start doing some better off-camera stuff. I've been looking at the Nikon SB-24, and I'm wondering if I would be able to use it on my Canon XT. I assume TTL metering wouldn't work, but would I run into any other issues? For now I plan on using a PC sync cord, as I don't have money for any form of wireless triggering right now.

Also, any other suggestions for flashes would be appreciated. I don't want to spend a ton of money, but I'd like something with decent manual controls.

I think it would work via sync chord. It might even work in the hot shoe (but check the voltage), cause my Canon 199A speedlite works on my Nikon D40 (but with no communication between them)

Using sync chords won't be a problem. Nikon hasn't made a high voltage flash in 40 years or so. Even my SB-10 only puts 5V across the terminal. Wireless triggers also won't be an issue. This may even work in the hotshoe, but you definitely will not have TTL functionality.

It should work. And FYI, wireless triggers are pretty cheap, i would definetly consider if i were you

You won't get TTL functions, but manual mode should work fine. Ditto with sync cords etc.

WHY didn't anyone tell me this???? I bought a Nikon SC-28 YESTERDAY, for god's sake! £55 it was, too. :grumpy::grumpy:

But I'm sure it'll be great xD

I'll definitely get some down the road, but right now my budget is pretty low, and I don't really need wireless triggers yet.

Understood, well, either way getting that flash off camera should really help your shots
