Nikon launches two new lenses - 18-300mm VR and 24-85mm VR

I actually just pre-ordered two of the 18-300 lenses, myself. One for me, and one for my dad. I think most consumer level folks will think it's a God send of a "do it all" lens, and the rest of us, who know a bit about lenses, will buy it understanding we are compromising things like distortion, fixed aperture, and IQ for convenience. I personally, am planning on using it to replace my 18-55 and my 55-200 kit lenses. When I'm just walking about or at events, I often find that I was changing between those two at a feverish pace, and this lens will bridge that gap. I'm sure it will still be a solid performer, but in my mind, most of the photos this lens will take, are just snapshots, anyway. If I want to get creative, my other lenses will find their way out of the bag...
