These tracks run about 30' (10M) behind the house (long gone) that my wife grew up in. She left there 54 years ago on her own at age 13 to work & go to school in Montreal, Canada.

This brook run down beside the house & was the source of their water.

can't drink from a stream around here anymore

1: I would have moved the vanishing point of the tracks closer to the right-most 2/3 line.

those are great pics.thanks for shareing the story and the photos

Very nice photos. They make me think of the Virginia mountains.

I have this fasination for 'people' history from years gone by...
I wonder what the area was like 54 years ago. What was life really like, just thinking outloud.

A question you do not have to answer: was this her first return to the area in 54yrs?

Dirt poor! Not just her family (9 kids) but most
folk in that area of the Gaspe.

Very simple, no indoor plumbing, no electricity. Heating & cooking by wood stoves.

No, we have been back often but this year after us both having health issues we were a little more nostalgic. Her brother has a cottage a little up the road from where the old house was. You can see it here centre right, taken from in front of where the old house was.
