I need to buy a lense that zooms in quite a bit. I really don't even know what mm I want.. maybe 500 mm? It is for scenery photography. I have an Olympus Evolt E500 and I need advice on what brands that I should look into.. my budget is about 300 dollars. I work part time because I'm still in school, so I cannot afford an expensive one. Any advice?

You won't get 500mm for that.... You'll even styruggle to get a decent 300mm lens for that.

By saying scenery, generally you'd want a wider lens??

Well, I basically want one that's able to zoom in a lot... I have a 150 mm currently that I like but it just doesn't zoom in enough.

How much do you think I could get a 300 mm for? Will it be a big difference from my 150?

One of your problems is that the Olympus lens mount, isn't all that popular.

I found this lens...it's a bit over your budget...but it's the cheapest one I saw...See Here

Thank you for the link. I'll have to talk with my dad about it.

f4.5-f5.6 means you'll only be able to use it in pretty bright conditions (or in lower light but on a firm tripod.

Call me an amatuer, but what does that really mean anyway? (the f4.5-5.6)
