Here's a short video showing one of the positives of UE photography. It is the top one on the left: "Lost Treasures of the City." Enjoy.

Weekend Edition ? Yahoo! News

I hope you noted that it can be an extremely dangerous endeavor and that safety measures should be taken when venturing into this kind of work/adventure.

Tell me about it. I nearly had a heart attack when I was crawling though an old abandoned nuthouse with spent bullet casings laying on the ground, broken windows etc, and suddenly out of the room behind me some dude pops out from one of the rooms.

Turns out he wasn't some baked hobo taking pot shots at the building with a 9mm but rather just some kid who was too tired to walk all the way home and decided to spend the night in the building. :)

Abandoned cities and buildings are wonderful. "If these walls could talk..." sums the experience up quite nicely.

There are some really good UE forums out there. As long as you use common sense, take the proper gear, and stay safe, it can be a rewarding experience.

 Heart attack was not quite the kind of danger I was thinking about but it still could kill you.

My specialty was quarries because of where I first got involved: Paris. Those are under most of the city, extend into the suburbs, and have an amazingly rich history. Bandits used them to get contraband in and out of the city and so did the resistance during WWII. There are bunkers, trucks and a bunch of other artifacts from that period down there. Bodies have been dumped there and there is also the tomb of a guy who got lost and died there. Great place.

Not too dangerous in the sense that there are maps of the parts of it but ceilings do fall from time to time and 40-60 tons of rocks would hurt if it fell on your head, lol.

I also did a lot of exploring in a much wilder quarry in the north of France and for years my partner in fun and I got called there from time to time to get someone out who had gotten lost. Which is why I often mentioned safety in UE threads. It can be quite dangerous.

Rewarding and fun but I don't ever mention those forums here because too many people go without taking any safety measures so I don't want to give anyone ideas...
