old flash / new camera

My freind was given this old Pentax k1000 and in the bag was a Albinar 100MDT-TWIN flash. Can I use this on a Nikon d3100? Or can something bad happen? I know that I should buy a flash that is suited for my camera, But to get a flash for free is not bad either. Thanks in advance for the advise.

According to This Site that particular flash "Should" be safe for use on modern cameras however it is your choice whether to believe it or not. A lot of older flashes have very high trigger voltages whereas a lot of them have low trigger voltages. This one is listed as one of the low ones.
