On a mission to capture the Northern Lights

Seen the lights tonight at work. They were brightest at around 3-4 am although still quite dull compared to what one would think they 'should' be.
They sure were dancing alot though!!!!!!
Perhaps they'll get much brighter tomorrow tonight.

I got another issue of... either popular photography or american photo today. Cant exactly remember.. anyways. There was a picture that was a 12 hour exposure of the stars moving through the sky at night. WOW.
I'll try to find a link later today when I wake up.
It was incredible.
A picture like that with some northern lights would be real neat.

The latest issue of Shutterbug just came out with an article on shooting the lights.

I saw them in action when I was stationed at Ft. Wainwright in Fairbanks. Awesome is all I can say. Never seen anything like it.

I was considering a drive North tonight but the cloud cover looks bad... the forecast is for active lights. I'll be watching the satellite!

Neea what part of Canada are you in?

Took a look at the sky tonight and bailed out... no sense in a long drive if it's overcast :thumbdown:
