Hi all
I have an opportunity to buy a used D7000 with a 70-210 lens for $500. It is about a year old with 27K shutter count.
A few questions:
Does it sound like a good deal?
I am unfamiliar with the shutter count life of a camera. Does 27K sound like a lot? What is the normal expected life?
Any other thoughts to consider are welcome.
Thanks
Wes

Well as I recall the shutter in the D7000 is rated for 150,000 actuations so 27k isn't bad at all, still plenty of life left in the camera. The one thing I would ask about would be to find out if they've ever had any focusing issues with the camera, some of the early D7000's had some issues with the autofocus, later releases the issue was fixed so I'd just check to make sure it hasn't shown any autofocus issues first, if not then it sounds like a fairly good deal - most used D7000's go for about 500-600 on Ebay.

As for the lens it is an older one without a built in autofocus motor, should work ok on the D7000 but never used one so I wouldn't be able to tell you much about it as far as image quality or focusing speed.

Used D7000's (body only) are selling for about $550 and up on Amazon.com. So a D7000 in good condition and a 70-210 mm lens sounds like a good deal.
I wonder if the 70-210 lens a Nikon lens ?
The Nikon AF 70-210 mm f/4-5.6D lenses sell used for $100 - $150.

I had a D7000 and the 70-210mm Nikon lens.
While my camera was relatively a newer model (Dec 2012) it still had AF problems that could not be resolved by me and when sent to Nikon they didn't resolve completely problem so I was forced to sell it and get the D7100.
So I am not saying don't get the camera but from my experience even recent cameras experienced the dreaded AF issues.
I also had the Nikon 70-210mm lens, nice lens, old but ok for what I paid for it (I think it was 85$) but it too is gone now.

Assuming the camera and lens are ok then I think 500$ seems like ok price but mind you the 70-210mm is a walk around lens, you will need for at least one more lens for general use like the Nikon 18-105mm VR

it's a good deal. I have been shooting with a D7000 for years (and currently am still). It is a great camera.
