Hey all,

I've recently been really busy with my photography, and I really want to upgrade. Right now, I'm shooting with a Nikon D300s body, and I mostly use my 50mm 1.8 lens. have my eyes on the Nikon D810 and the 70-200 2.8.

Because I'm going from all cropped to all full-frame, I really don't know what order to do it. It will likely be several months between purchases.

Here's my thoughts so far: I think I should probably go with the lens first because that can be used more effectively on my current body without any awful vignetting.

What have you all done when it came time to upgrade? What order would you recommend?

There is no one, single path to transition from crop to full-frame.

In fact, full-frame shouldn't be a goal, it is just a tool and should be treated as such.

Your 50mm would be fine on a FF, it's just it would give you an actual 50mm FOV instead of a 75mm FOV on your crop d300s which does a 1.5x factor.

So you could get the d810 first
then the 70-200 later

your 18-200 though would be the problem. But you can always shoot in DX mode until you replace it with the 70-200.
