Owl and a kestrel (and some gulls)

My kids and I went to a birds of prey demonstration yesterday - got to see an American Kestrel (which is my FAVOURITE bird) and a Great Horned Owl up close and personal.

And afterwards, we went to the beach. As much as the gulls are so common, they give you a lot of practice for birds in flight and hitting your focus correctly. Plus, they are actually quite pretty.

Wonderful set, love the kestrel and the surf in the background of the gulls shot is just incredible. Beautiful composition on that last one.

Thanks a ton robbins.photo! I was really pleased with the way that shot turned out, even though it's "just gulls". I have to stop thinking of the pigeons and gulls as undesireables.

IronMaskDuval, the mouse was pining for the fjords before the owl ever touched it. The kids were duly impressed, when after one gulp, we had this:

Very nice! Especially the kestrel. There is a birds of prey rescue and rehab center about 20 km from me that I now feel a need to revisit . Thank you.
