Hmm, I thought it was "painting with light"

The first has a nice diffused flow to it ... though I think it would be stronger as a horizontal shot.

I thought painting with light was when you actually drew pictures / designs with some sort of light source. ??

Your camera is capturing light being reflecting from the subject.
