I honestly wish I had saved a few of the blurred shots from the late afternoon that I first received my telephoto lens, as an example of what image stabilization cannot fix. IS can freeze the landscape, but it doesn't stop moving wildlife. You might have tried your owl with something faster than ISO 100.
