Hi,

Has anyone any opinions on the following lens:
I am buying a Pentax K10D with Portrait and Landscape/Cityscape in mind.
Maybe I will need two lenses?

Pentax SMC DA Series 16-50mm f/2.8 ED AL IF SDM Wide Angle Zoom Lens for Pentax Digital SLR Cameras

Thanks
Paul

Hi there,

As you say, you will probably need two lenses, including a telephoto for portraits. Both of the new DA* f/2.8 zooms are fairly expensive, and as far as I know there are no reviews for them yet. You could go for both of them (the 16-50mm f/2.8 and 50-135mm f/2.8) and have the benefits of faster and quieter SDM focusing, weather sealing and better than average build... or if you don't need the sealing, SDM focus or large max aperture, you could save a bit of money by going for the 16-45mm f/4 instead of the 16-50mm f/2.8. Alternatively you could consider whether prime lenses would fit your needs.

when I think of cityscapes, I think of ultrawides-fisheyes.

I wish I could give a personal review of the DA* lens, but I am poor.
