photo upload help.( not sure where to put this post )

Hi all. I have just uploaded my first photo but something seemed to happen to it either in the transfer or changing the file size. The colours have gone all wrong and it looks a lot more contrasty. when I click on the image and it opens up full screen it looks fine but the small one in the post looks terrible.

I know its not my monitor as I use an IPS monitor and I always use the gaumt warning tab in PS to make sure my photos coulours are not over done. Does anyone know what might have caused this and or how to correct it?
Also what is the preffered file size and upload method as I want to show my images as they really appear and not all skewiff.
