Class Time with Garry Winogrand

A great read, and maybe an insight into how we had to learn in the past.

Thanks for the link. There have been rumors for years that Winogrand was actually sleeping with his Leica, just prior to his death.

He is an inspiration for a lot of us.

Some of you may have seen this. Stephen Gandy had Winogrand's Leica M4 for a while after he died. Here is a link to some photos of the camera. What is amazing, is that Gary ran so many rolls of film through the camera that it actually left impressions on the film pressure plate. After his death, they found thousands of un-processed rolls and thousands more of processed rolls that he never got around to printing or making contact sheets.

LOL, yup. People say that one of the "detriments" of digital is that people are just snapping away, instead of framing deliberately. Well, Winogrand was extremely prolific. I can't remember the exact quote, but after attending a big party in New York someone asked him if he enjoyed himself, and said "Yeah, 28 rolls!"
