Photoshop edit of Brutus the dog

He's such a good pup. Ok so I think his head is over exposed a bit (I didn't use a flash) but when I try to compensate in Photoshop the rest of him looks underexposed. Also, I'm really not happy with the floor next to him. It looks like I photoshopped it in. I'm still new at this so if anyone wants to edit him please do. I only ask that you explain your method so I can duplicate the results.

I'm really amazed that I got him to stay still for this. He was waiting for me to give him a treat. Usually this gets him all fired up won't sit still for anyone. I had just let him run around in the back yard so he was a bit tired. Thanks in advance for your critique and suggestions.

If you are going to edit it why not change the background it is pretty distracting of an otherwise good shot... Just a suggestion.
