Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
Ok so most of the adobe blurb and details about this are all about its facebook intergration its creative filters and its organising sides; with little about the more mundane features and controls present.

So anyone got a copy who can give me an overview of its features, specifically what is gained over previous elements releases such as 6. I'm aware that they added layermasks for general use, but are they smart layermasks that you can select, copy and adjust or just regular ones which are only able to be painted on for the add/remove effect and to adjust the opacity.
Any other specific refinements and additions would be helpful to know

(yes I know there is a trial but I'm near my monthly limit already)

I wish I knew Elements well enough to give this to you - I just bought it and have pretty much no idea what I'm doing yet. lol

You can make something in an image look like it is coming out of the image by cutting out background and stuff. I haven't opened mine in months CS5 is just so much easier I thought it would be opposite but once you get the layers concept it becomes pretty easy. I did like how elements kept the photos though, haven't even used cs5 to store pictures.

I don't have a copy of elements 10 but I have a magazine article and they listed some of the new features. New organizer search options - object search finds pictures with similar content. Duplicate photo search and linking Facebook to make people recognition easier. More guided edit modes: Orton effect, DOF and picture stack. New overlay guided to use with crop tool. New text tools-text on a shape, text on a path and text on a selection. The conclusion: not enough new feature compared to elements 9. 9 had new features like layer masks so if you already have 9 there is no point upgrading to 10.

I'm running on Elements 6 at the moment, but I've always been using a free download layermask to get that functionality. The problem however is that the layer will only let me paint into it with the brushes - I can't use the selection wizard on the layermask itself nor copy/paste with it (nor do anything much to it at all).

I'm pretty sure you can do that with elements 9. I haven't used it in a while and I just uninstalled it yesterday. I know you can copy one mask to another layer but I dont know much more than that. I had elements for a year but only played with for a few weeks before getting photoshop. If you didn't live so far away I'd give you my copy of elements.

If you're going to get it, today is the day. Best Buy has it on sale for $54 online for Cyber Monday.
