I posted this before, but didn't really get a response. Any thoughts will help. thanks.

I am going on a camping trip, and would like to get another lens for my trip. (something lighter, and less expensive.)

Currently I only have the Nikkor 17-55 f/2.8 ($1000 and heavy) There are two lenses I am thinking about...

Nikkor 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED AF-S VR DX ($250, good addition to my 17-55, nice zoom for wildlife)
Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 (light, fast, $120, but I already have that length in my bag)

Well - depending on how sharp that 17-55 is at 50MM, the 50MM may be not really needed, even if its got four stops on the 1.8. That 55-200 though might just get more use. . .thats what I would toss the money down on.
