Does anyone know if this company is still doing business?

I sent them an email asking some questions about one of their software packages and it is bouncing back "not able to delivery".

what's the address of their website?

edit: nevermind, i found it.

post the header of the returned email (should contain an error code). no need to copy/paste the entire email.

it says Permanent Failure: 553_

not sure if t hat is what your asking for, computers give me a headache :)

yah, that's what i need.

does it also read 'relaying not permitted..' ?

also, are you sending from a domain that you own or a webmail service?

i sent the message using their website, when clicking on "contact", outlook express came up at with the name and address of the individual to contact.

I might try again today and see if i get the same results.

thanks for taking the time to assest me.

ann

ok, so you are sending it via a domain that you have hosted somewhere.

if you are able to send email to other addresses, then it pretty much comes down to one of two things:

- either they can't/aren't receiving email for the time being
- they are using a verification system (similar to what verizon uses (jerks)) that checks for a relay server or your host is having some temporary mx issues.

all that said, try again later. let me know what happens.

just an update for you motcon

i tried again yesterday , same results.

frankly, the fact that i can't reach them does not that give me a warm fuzzy feeling that i would want to do busincess with them.

thanks for you help

i tried again yesterday , same results.

if you are able to send email to other addresses without issue, my guess is that it's on their end. if they are using the verification software that verizon uses, they should be ashamed of themselves. if they've disabled incoming email, they should have an auto reply that explains why and when one will be able to send mail. there are other reasons, but, to your point, none of them give me a warm fuzzy, either.

thanks for you help

any time.

Hi Ann,

I just noticed this thread upon visiting, and I'm sorry you've been having such grief!

I run the Plugs 'N Pixels website. Here's what's probably happening with the email:

Back in December I changed my domain address from "plugsnpixels" to "plugsandpixels". The old URL forwards, but the email doesn't (if anyone knows a way to fix that, do tell!). Why did I do this? A year or more prior I had originally registered the name and bought a hosting package from a company that is just awful; their tech support is AWOL and their control panel barely functional. I was rapidly outgrowing the starter account and was paying too much to band-aid the package.

So I switched hosts and battled to rescue my domain name from the non-responsive (spider)hosts. Uncertain if I could rescue the older domain name before it expired that month, I bought the new one and began migrating my site. Turns out I did rescue the name with days to spare, but "plugsandpixels" is now the preferred one. (Moral of the story: Register your domain separately from your hosting package!)

Oh, and during all this excitement I forgot to revise the most obvious of several of the email links on my site (the imagemapped one in the header, which you were probably using!), which I discovered and fixed recently. I hope that explains what happened to your emails! And I redid all the ezines some months ago to reflect the new URL and contact info.

As for the software listed on my site, you don't actually buy it from me--I merely refer customers to the developers. But the website gives you a nice overview of what is available in a single directory, with custom screenshots and examples. I'd also be glad to answer any questions you might have about a particular product, as best I can.

So I hope you are feeling a bit more "fuzzy" now! Whenever I get emails (and I do get a lot of people asking for the ezine to be emailed as a free subscription) I am prompt to answer them.

Thanks for understanding,
Mike

PS: motcon, thanks for trying to help!

thanks for the update mike,

i was checking on "sloppy Borders", wondering if there was a trial version to test before dropping 125 dollars site unseen (so to speak).

regards,
ann

Hi Ann,

That's a good point. I will check with the Kubota people and see what they can do.

Otherwise, perhaps I can send you a "contact sheet" showing all the various frames that they offer?

BTW, their frame collection can also be applied using other apps such as EasyFrame, as opposed to using the action.

Mike

thanks mike,

i am clueless about easyframe but will do some research.

my computer knowledge is pretty slim, my eyes glaze over a lot :)

mike,
found the site,
it is for mac' s and i am using a pc,
also, i really want to use rebate borders.

i will keep doing some research and see what else i can find
ann

Sloppy Borders actions are cross-platform, so that is not a problem. EasyFrame was just an example of how to apply frames to an image via an alternative method; there are similar Windows solutions as well.

Now, what is a "rebate" border?

i meant the easy frame was a mac download
the rebate is the edge that surrounds the film that is clear and prints black.

when printing in a darkroom one can use a filed out negative carrier to show the black edges around the print, which sloppy borders seems to do.

certain films have a partiular look; i.e. polaroid P55
