Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
So, I've seen two threads in the past week about pirating photoshop or asking for torrents to download photoshop.

What's the policy on this? I know other forums I'm a member of will lock or delete the threads as for one, it's illegal, and two, photographer, of all people, should know that it's wrong to steal something another person creates.

So can we go hog wild and post up torrents so noobs can download all the pirated software they want, or can these threads be deleted when they're reported?

Only a fool publicly announces his crime.

They should be deleted of course.

I don't know if we should go as far as to ban members for talking about illegal practices, but it can be kind of frustrating to read certain topics. I don't think someone should be banned for talking about smoking weed, so I can't say we should ban everyone who talks about illegal activity as a whole.. On the other hand, I honestly don't understand it. Photogs who want to be "professional" pirating software? Sounds like a totally legitimate and legal business strategy. Whatever. :er:

Phew... I thought you were talking about my thread soliciting MissCream.

It's not even a morality question. It's a question on wether or not the site should allow discussion of illegal activinty such as questionable licensed software and crimianl activity like illegal drug use come to mind.

I personally don't care what you do in the privacy of your own life, as long as it isn't harming another but to brag about it in open forum is just plain dumb and I dislike dumb.

Why not just post that you are now using [enter software here]... instead of giving the origin of it's aquisition?

Anyway, just my 2 cents.

I haven't see the posts, otherwise I would have removed them.

As usual, just use the 'report a post' button when you see this type of thing.

Illegal download of software, movies, games and music will never be stopped. period. especially when they are 1000s on different copys on the web
They tried to stop newzbin a few months back and they couldnt because it the owners made sure the source code was Stolen. After all, it is nothing more than a search engine. You can find pirated software on any search engine including google. are they going to shut down google? never.

newsgroups + SSL client with a bunch of ssl queues + a news hosting and you can pretty much download whatever you want. are they going to shutdown all the hosting companies out there.. no? the pirate groups who rip and distribute copys? no, they know what they are doing and they exploit the most unsecure network ever invented in mankind. The interwebz.
the machine is on and will never stop

All depend how you see it. Stuff is being downloaded off the internet since as far as i can remember. I was 12 the first time a had my hands on a pc and we were already trading games off floppy disk.

I dont think discussing piracy on a forum should be illegal since there is 123123123212 zillion of forum and pages were you can find informations on piracy. Everyone knows about it.

And I thought this was about all the weed-smoking and bong- and pipe-collecting activities from our friend in Maine!!!!!

I removed the tag on my mattress.
Nothing wrong with that.

Why does everybody think that's illegal?

Did you notice the part that says "except by consumer"? That's you.

That law is there so that you know what materials are in the mattress you are buying.

I don't think discussions of any kind should ever be illegal. I'm a personal freedom kind of guy, and the freedom of speech is one of our most important freedoms.

I'm not advocating pirating software, but I am saying that the discussion should be allowed.

Whether you pirate software or not, I don't really care. I do think that it is a stupid business move though. If you are 'in business', everything about your business should be on the right side of the law.
