Hi all ,

I'm new here, please check out the Welcoming Thread for my intro.
My first Question here is about polorized filters. I'm starting to explore in filters and I purchased a Hoya Polorized and a Soft filter for my 135mm.

My question is .... When using the polorized filter like at the beach, do I depend on my Canon AE-1 meter, or do I open up my Fstop more to allow little more light in? Also with the Soft filter, should I depend on the meter?

Please inlighten me with your knowledge. Thx.

Welcome to the forum.

I'll answer anyway. The meter in most SLR cameras is inside the camera and meters the light coming through the lens. So if you put a filter in front of the lens, the meter will think that it's darker and compensate accordingly.

It's when you are using a hand-held light meter that you have to take into account the light cost of the filter.
