portraits of my brother, just bought some speedlight-compatible studio-stuff and have been toying around with it since, would be great with some C&C and some tips on lightning techniques, since I'm starting up a small time business as a school project.

1. light w/ umbrella a few feets left from camera angeled down ~15° on subject, reflector held by subject angeled downwards ~20°

2. light w/ umbrella 45° from camera right, angeled down ~30°
Reflector 45° from camera left angeled up ~30°

3. tried some more dramatic and skipped the reflector, not entirely sure on where I've placed the light but i guess somewhere between 30° - 60° angeled down ~20°

I happen to like portraits that have the subject looking off frame which fills me with more emotion as compared to the stiff feel of the more conventional eyes towards the camera...

number 3 is so intimidating. love it. and i enjoy looking at the first pic because of the red background w the black shirt. good choice.

#3 is awesome! #2 you have a hot spot on the bottom right cheek, and your DOF seems very shallow. I like the ratio in #1 as well, but #3 is definitely the standout!
