PP for newborn shoots

So I had a newborn shoot this morning with a good family friend and I was wondering about some PP tips. Do most people use the surface blur a tad to help the baby's skin stop looking blotchy or do they just leave the skin as is. It's not bad but I just think the skin looks a lot nicer with a little blur to it.

Whatever you do, you must bring up the black point and the white point.

There is no other way.

But yes, I do believe that blurring the skin and erasing away the blur I some areas is a common technique

May I ask why you have to bring the white and black points up?
