Practice Fill Flash w/pop up C&C Please

I plan on getting an ocf but need to save. Please C&C. What can I do with just a pop up flash. How could I have made this photograph better. Any and all comments are welcome. I just trying to learn as much as possible.

It's over exposed. Dial down the flash exposure comp, and experiment.

interesting angle.. contrast is a bit punchy for my liking.

for future reference, if you want a good fill light/flash, invest in an off camera strobe like a speed light
