If you want to retain that 'look', with a more natural feel, use a fog filter (Fog B or stronger), it'll make highlights really 'glow' with an ethereal feel. It doesn't really detract from the sharpness, and achieves something you can't really do post-production. Or, you can use a nylon stocking over the lens. The problem with Photoshop is usually people can tell...
