Just had a few shots from my purple pond lilies that have been blooming lately.

Nice... love the colors!

Like the first one - framing/cropping works well. By showing less of the core we get a more subdued and less "loud" image. The pedal texture is nice and compliments the strict pattern of the anthers. Wish the anthers were a different color from the pedals (but what can you do?). Small blemish on pedal at upper right distracts just slightly. Light control is very good (on both) though just a tad flat on the second. Focus and DOF are fine for both. Camera angle is good on second shot showing depth of the core and front anthers - also like the spattering of pollen giving additional texture.

Question: Why the 1/1600th shutter speed and ISO 400? Were you going for a particular look with that or was there a lot of wind?

Wasn't to windy but I was hovering half way in my pond with no tripod so I thought it would help balance that. Thanks

I like both but I think I like the cropping on the first one the best
