Tried printing using the above paper. Image turned out like I had photocopied it

I printed from PS as I would with photo glossy paper. I am using a cheapy Lexmark Z705 printer  (bought before I got my Camerea). B&W's turned out o.k. on the glossy paper. The setting I am using for the printer is Best/photo and Photo/Glossy paper. Should I change the setting to plain paper instead? Maybe it's not the right paper to print photo's on?

Would like to fiqure out what to do as the cost of ink is outrageous for this printer

Due to my remote location photo labs are not a good option.

Thanks for any help in advance

uh, if you expect us to 'envision' the image just based on the title of the topic, every one of us will have a different understanding. please post the image.

Maybe I should rephrase the question.

When I printed a B&W image with "Kodac Picture Paper Matte" it came out looking like it had been photocopied. Am I doing something wrong. What are other person's experience using that photo paper?
