problem scanning

hey all,
this may seem like a stupid question, but i am having fits trying to get this to work. i just got jasc psp7, and when i scan in pictures i have, taken psp doesnt take it. it says the file isnt in jpeg or jpfp form. although my picture is in jpeg format. so what would i need to do? is there a certain way i need to go about this? like i said earlier, i know this probably is a dumb question but i appreciate any help. l
