Problem w/ exposure w/ Canon remote

I am using the 6D with a 580EXii and the RC-6 Canon remote shutter release. The flash is set to ETTL. When I press the shutter release on the actual camera, the exposure turns out perfect. However, when I use the Canon remote, the flash fires, but my exposure is one or two stops darker.

Has anyone had this problem? Does anyone know how to fix it?

The 6D was on full manual, but I didn't try with the flash. I'll give it a shot.

I wonder if the remote is visible in the metering? Try putting the camera on timer mode, like 2-second delay, and trigger it with the remote. I'm betting the exposure returns to normal.

If the remote is on during the pre-flash it will skew the light reading, I think.

If so, that would let you keep your ETTL.
