so my puppy got into some of my wife's lipstick and while Nina (puppy) was getting scolded, i got the shot:mrgreen: as always C&C would be very helpful

Heh, very cute.
They eyes really need to be in focus.
Smaller aperture would give you a bit more depth of field.

Keep shootin'

i almost felt like i had to compromise between the eyes and the texture of the nose and lipstick. i feel like the eyes speak for themselves and convey emotion, but naturally (if the eyes were the focus) the viewer's eye would see the red of the lipstick and it would conflict.

I'd rather see the eyes in focus...when the eyes are not in focus I have a hard time liking the shot.

Remember, this is my opinion.

I love the texture and detail of the lipstick, but to me the blurring of the rest of the dog kinda throws it in the background. Eye's are important. Getting both in focus would be ideal (both eyes and lipstick).

Lucky grab, and you take your chances on these rare moments.
Still so cute.

thank you very much. i'm actually writing this stuff down to bring with me when i take pics lol

it will become second nature in time. Then you'll have more stuff to remember :).
