Pushing and pulling

Sorry if this is the wrong spot. Mods please move it if it is so.

The situtation. I will be going up into the michigan wilderness in about a week and taking a train ride to some place. I thing the train is a steam engine and i want to get some grainy moody shots of it. I have used Ilford Delta 3200 ISO film before and i develope myself. However, I want more grain then that and my question is how far can i push this film? 6400? 12,800? That being said, i dont want to end up with point a lisim like pictures

secondly, other then correcting for exposure problems, what sort of effects does pulling film have?

I think the exposure latitude for 3200 is about four stops... therefore I think you'd probably be able to go to 12,800 (you probably wouldn't want to though) 3200 is pretty grainy anyway, so probably push it a stop and see what happens?

The basic effect of "pushing" and "pulling" is: When you push you increase density and contrast and the reverse in pulling.
